Roy Recklies – Mastering-Studio near Düsseldorf

We planned a studio near Düsseldorf for the successful mastering engineer Roy Recklies and supplied the customised interior acoustics.

Mastering engineer Roy Recklies has been working for years at Michael Schwabe’s renowned Düsseldorf mastering studio monoposto and has well-known artists such as Robin Schulz, Matthias Reim, Avaion and Olli Schulz on his list of references. In addition to monoposto, we designed and equipped Roy’s own mastering room.

In my new studio I can make all the important sound decisions quickly and accurately. Great! My customers are also very impressed with the results from the new studio.

The acoustic concept

Professional mastering studios are subject to particularly high sonic requirements, because what is not noticeable here is released as such. Spoilt by the monoposto sound, Roy also placed the highest demands on the acoustics for his own mastering studio, while compromises were accepted when it came to purely visual aspects. Our task was therefore to design an aesthetically pragmatic and acoustically superior space.

The entire front of the studio, the front area of the side walls and the rear corners of the room were therefore covered with broadband bass traps, as was the ceiling. Here we opted for TrapCore modules, which were actually developed as the core of the large ADS bass traps, but also work wonderfully without panelling. An AV16 acoustic curtain is used in front of the window in the rear wall, which prevents direct reflections on the glass pane, but can simply be pushed aside if daylight is required. 2D diffusers on the wall and ceiling at the back of the room ensure that the short but present reverberation tail is diffused as much as possible, thus creating a natural surround sound despite all the elaborate measures.
