Recording Studio for Purple Disco Machine

We created a homely yet professional songwriting and production studio in Dresden for the later Grammy winner Tino Piontek.

In June 2019 we met with Tino Piontek in Dresden to view possible premises for a new recording studio for Purple Disco Machine. As part of the subsequent acoustic planning, we developed a suitable room geometry and the necessary details for effective sound insulation.

Airborne and structure-borne sound insulation for professional recording studio requirements

A partition (blue) and a completely decoupled inner shell (green) ensure that the air and structure-borne sound insulation meets the requirements. The inner shell was designed trapezoidal without parallel walls. This spatial geometry offers great advantages in terms of bass behavior. This is because the own modes (room resonances, standing waves) “smear” over the frequency and are less pronounced. The inner shell is also designed strictly symmetrically to the stereo axis and promises an excellent stereo image, minimal stereo deviation and a pronounced phantom center.

Bass traps and broadband absorbers from the in-house acoustic workshop

After the drywall work was carried out by a local contractor, we planned to equip the room with bass traps and broadband absorbers. We produced all acoustic modules in our in-house workshop in Osnabrück and delivered them in June 2020. The studio front and the front area of ​​the side walls were equipped with TrapCore bass traps and a cladding made of wooden slats. This design has a very broadband absorbing effect and minimizes early reflections, modal effects and speaker boundary interference (SBIR). A custom coax system from Gawan Linnemann is used as the loudspeaker.

Double platinum, Grammy and many other awards for Purple Disco Machine

The song “Hypnotized” reached number two on the Italian singles charts in August 2020 and was certified double platinum. Tino produced the official remixes of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”, Kylie Minogue’s “Magic” and Lady Gaga’s “Rain on Me” that same year. In 2023, Purple Disco Machine won a Grammy in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category for its remix of Lizzo’s “About Damn Time”.

We are very pleased that we were able to make a small contribution to the great success of Purple Disco Machine. Tino is not only a talented songwriter, but also an extremely friendly and natural guy. It was a lot of fun working for him.
